Today
my dad came in to talk about what we do outside and where we go for our
holidays. It was awesome I hope that the class enjoyed it thanks dad I would
love it if we could do it all again thank you.
On Friday my dad came in and talked about
India. He presented it on a PowerPoint. He talked about temples, art, music,
food, dances, churches, landscapes, places and map’s .There was a video. He
also answered the questions. At end my dad handed out lollies and chocolates
for everyone. It was cool and interesting. Thanks dad for coming in to teach
us about India.
On my Family Friday my mum, brother and sister came in and talked about the Philippines. Mum taught the class about our culture, food, language and what we like to do in our spare time. She also taught us how to speak different Filipino words. Thanks for coming in mum.
On Friday Rohan’s mum came for her family Friday, it was so
much fun because she brought in some Indian sweets and told us about Rohan’s
culture and how Indians came to Fiji, I hope she could do another one.
On the 20th September some of Room 9 celebrated their First Holy Communion. We were all very proud and everyone had a great time. Congratulations from Room 9!
On the Thursday 17th October my mum took our class on a trip to the Aotea Centre to talk to us about the history of Opera and to look backstage at how an Opera works. We learnt about the current Opera showing at the Aotea Centre, which was called Tosca. We got to have a look at some pretty cool props such as fake, edible blood. It was heaps of fun, thank you so much mum for organising a great class trip.
On the 11th of September my dad Alan came into room 9 to talk about electronics and technology and how it had evolved over many years. He showed us lots of images of different types of computers such as phones and laptops. He also talked about how he use to play games in his childhood including the devices he would use to play the games. He told us many things about how to work computers and what lasers, microchips were used for and showed us them. It was very fun! Thanks daddda!
Room 9 had their last a assembly for the year. It was based on the TV show Shortland Street. This is a keeping ourselves safe/healthy eating video we made to feature in our assembly. We hope you like it!
He
did a power point then he took us to a surprise, which
was an a electric car and three lucky people got to ride in it and others got to sit in it. I
really enjoyed it.
First we
went in a van. When we got there we went in the Rugby tunnel and we went on
the filed. After that, we went to do some rugby drills in the room that the players go
in before a game. The class got to pick a player from the Rugby World Cup 2011.
We went in to the ICP room and the class got to see all of the cameras in the whole
of Eden Park.
On Friday my
dad came into class, he talked about my little brother Dominic, even my sister
came, it was like my whole family was there. There were lots of questions to
answer, even some for my little brother to answer! I really liked my family
Friday and I hope the class did too.
On the 19th of August three students from Room 9 were selected for the Speech Finals. Brianna Year 4, read a speech on Sugar. Sasha Year 4, read a speech on the Ultimate Party Guide and Logan Year 5 wrote a speech on Why Speeches Should be Band. Our class did very well with Sasha coming 1st, Brianna 2nd for the Year 4's and Logan came 2nd in the Year 5 category.
In Room 9 we read plays every Friday, it's heaps of fun and the class love it! This term Mrs Suggate got the students into groups to create their own play instead of reading one from a journal. Room 9 have been very creative and have made some original plays. We hope you like them!
Today our mum and dad came in and talked to our class about CPR and my dad’s job as a doctor.
He brought in two mannequins, one skeleton and one defibrillator. One mannequin was called Cordy (male ) and the other was called Resusee Annie ( female). We got to practise CPR on the mannequins. We all had a great time. Thank you mum and dad. By Eva and Lucy
On the 26th of June my dad called Phil came in and talked about his job. His job is an architect and all he does is sit around and watch buildings be built. He brought in his laptop and on his laptop we played a little game that my dad uses to design buildings. We looked around for a table, a car and guy riding a bike.
In room 9 we have been creating our own Matariki myths. We could either make it as a movie or a book. Some others used the paint app on the computers to make pictures for their books.

On
the 12th of June my mum came in to talk about her job. Everyone was
a little grossed out by everything my mum brought in. The most grossest thing my mum brought in was a sheep’s heart yuck!
The
best thing about it was the part where my mum said do you want to touch it. They
were all gross but everyone loved it, now that is my family Friday.
On Friday the5th of June my mum came
in and talked about the Philippines, she told us where it is and what part my
family was from. She also told us about the population and the King and Queen
and she made a PowerPoint. She also taught us a game where you have 3 people and the
others have to try and get inside your square, and you have to try and get through
all three squares and then you do it again and again until you have a winner.
On the 1st of
June we had Book Week. It was a really
fun week. On Friday we dressed up as our favourite book character and we also had
a scavenger hunt where there were some quizzes that we had to figure out in
groups. The people who won were Lachlan, Pippa and Jessica, they could choose a Smiggle toy. Everyone loved Book Week, it was
the best week ever!
On Friday 29th of May my mum came in and
talked about my family. We had pictures and my mum did a PowerPoint. The PowerPoint had pictures about when I was a baby and when I was 1 year old and 2 years old. Also when I visited my cousins in India and when I came to New Zealand (Auckland)
and moved to MT Roskill. My favourite part was when I played
with my sister it was fun.
On Friday the 22nd of May my dad came in and talked about my trip to Tiri Tiri Matangi. He also talked about all the native birds and animals on Tiri Tiri Matangi.In the power point there was a quiz about all the birds whoever got an answer right they got a lolly pop.
Today my daddy came and taught us about sound and how it travels in different ways. He told us about all the places he has gone to for his job on TV. He has to work on a desk with lots of buttons and he makes a mistake when its live it cannot be fixed. Thanks for coming in daddy.
Today mum came in and talked about Tonga. The children in Room 9 learnt about our culture back home. Mum showed us pictures and we learnt about our family values. Thanks for coming in mum.
This week my mum came in and talked about her job at Auckland University. She asked us questions like, "what do you want to be when you grow up and why?' Then she told us about all the jobs you can learn at University and we found out that Auckland University is the best University in New Zealand. She explained to us about her job, which is a HR Manager. It was fun. Thank you Mum.
Today mum came and talked about our trip to Rarotonga. She gave us a delicious, creamy coconut milk to drink. She taught us how to wrap a sarong. It was fun teaching the children about the Rarotongan culture we learnt on our holiday.
