Inquiry

 Functions: Baby Carriers
This term in topic we have been learning about baby carriers. We have been talking about how they work and the materials they are made out of. We have seen what qualities they have and need so that the baby and the mother or other person that is carrying or looking after the baby is comfortable. We all had different ideas and features that we think baby carriers should have from comfortable to strong. All of our ideas were awesome. One group made up the word swagariffic to explain the features. I think it is a great idea to have a baby carrier for your baby.

Instructions/Science Week

VOLCANOS
In the last two weeks we have been learning about instructions and in reading we made volcanos. Everyone had to bring in an ingredient such as vinegar, baking soda, sand and food colouring. First we made a volcano with the sand, next we put the baking soda in, after that we put the food colouring in, finally we put in the vinegar and watched the ERUPTION!!

Family Friday Week 3

On Friday Mrs McGillivray came in and talked to us about spies and codes. First we cracked a code and we got it. The code we cracked said “you cracked the code nice one!” Then we made a pencil code, it was a bit fiddly with wrapping the paper around the pencil and writing on the paper, but it was heaps of fun.
Thanks for coming in mum!

Family Friday's Week 2

Family Friday
Last week Matthew’s Auntie came in to talk about Samoa. She told us about a house that she built in Samoa. We played two games the toilet paper game and the envelope game.  She wrote prizes at the back of each envelope and gave us them. There were so many prizes! There were nail polishes, some bands and stickers.  It was so much fun and awesome!
Thanks Auntie!

Cross Country

On the 8th of May we had cross country. The seniors had to run outside of the school and the junior’s had to run in the school grounds. Everyone was cheering for the runners and was being very supportive. We had to warm up in the tennis court and cheer from there.  We all ran in ages 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 years old. We had so many adults watching and helping us. The children all had to bring their sports uniform and sports shoes.  We all had to wait patiently to take our turn running. Mrs Stennard took care of the cross country. While we were running we saw cars, a police officer and some other people. The children that came 1st, 2nd, and 3rd will go to Eden Albeit. It was so AWSOME!!!

Life Education

On Wednesday RM9 went to see Ben at the life education truck.  He taught us about the Head Hassler and the Mind Master. These are imaginary thoughts in our head. The Head Hassler gives us bad thoughts and the Mind Master gives us good thoughts. Then we started watching a video about a boy called Jake Clark. In this video Jake gets bullied and his Head Hassler gives him really annoying thoughts like ‘this will be happening for the rest of your life’. We learnt we should always listen to our Mind Master when things get tough in life.  At the end he gave us some work of drawing our own Mind Master and Head Hassler. It was awesome!!!

Family Friday with Martien Term 2 Week 1

On the 9th of May Martien Van Aken came in to speak to the class about the Netherlands. He talked about where the country is, what the favourite sport was and that they turned the carrots orange. We looked at the clogs they used and he said that they are harder than metal tip shoes. He all gave us a Dutch biscuit each, it was yum. At the end we made tulips but they were very hard to make and everyone struggled. After that we played Grandma’s Green Underpants and everyone who got a turn laughed. We had a great time!!!
