MOTAT!

On Thursday all of Connelly syndicate went to motat and we were put into groups of five with one parent .We all got in to the bus and we drove off! When we got there we all had morning tea and then we had a BIG list of things to do.

First we went to the old village we went to the house, school and the church that said the church of GOOD SHEPHERD! After that we went to the trams. It was so cool and the driver was from GOOD SHEPHERD! It was amazing.

Next we went to the challenge room, my favourite was the earthquake sit. You would go back and forth, back and forth, and it was really fun! There were lots of other things there too. Then we went to the huge train, inside it was really small but you know it was cool.

The best part that was everyone’s favourite part was the MIRROR MAZE! There were kids running in and out people pushing  through and someone spewed on my hand waaaaaaaaaa

Sushi

Sushi is our class pet. We all have turns looking after Sushi. He is a fish, we feed him twice a day. Everyone was excited when Vanessa told us she wrote a letter to Mrs Hahn and said we were allowed Sushi. But Mrs Suggate said if something happens to him we have to clean it up. Now Anija is asking if we are allowed another pet fish, the bad thing is we don’t know what gender Sushi is!!! Dun dun dun!!!

We love Sushi he is really cool and the lucky thing is that were the only class that has a class pet YAY!!! Hopefully.

Big Foot Cycle Safety

Last week the year 5 people in my school got to go on their bikes with some people. They taught us some bike tricks and the safety rules about biking. We played some games with them and it was really fun!

Family Friday Week 6

Today Debbie my mum and Luke my little brother came in to talk about Totara North School. Debbie talked about their Cool Cross Country, the awesome water slide, the flying fox and the trampoline. My mum's old school has been open for 152 years. There were 11 kids when she was there but now there is 25 to 30 children. Her mum was the teacher aide at the school. There teachers names were Mr and Mrs Hislop and there would be amazing beach visits.

Mountain Biking Fact File

First of all, We have to know what mountain biking is. Mountain Biking is when you bike around the forest for fun and fitness.

People make the tracks by, cutting down a variety of trees, enough not to ruin the forest. Then the bikers bike along the track, settling into it and adjusting into it. They plant more trees along the sides, enough not to interfere with the track. It must be really fun and make you fit. I would love to try it someday.

Second of all, we have to know what the tracks might look like/be, and to know when we start to mountain bike, we will be able to figure out what is in store for us on that track. Big drops, hills and jumps are usually the things we have to face. To mountain bike, you have to be serious about it, and to have 'SKILL'.

Some people love to mountain bike.  They need to have track makers so that the tracks are ready for them.

We mountain bike to have fun, to do fitness and to make us active.

We mountain bike in the forest, on the mountains and on tracks.  Anywhere there are jumps and bumps.

You make tracks by flattening trees.

Did you know that the narrower the track the faster

You go? Did you know it takes 10 hours to make 10 meters of trail?

People mountain bike in places with steep hills and a place with lots of trees. Like mountains, forests and tracks.

The people involved in mountain biking are Track makers, people who mountain bike, bikes and well known Sarah Walker.

You make tracks by cutting some trees then flattening the trees with heavy machinery.

We mountain bike goes on mountain tracks, around farms and even deep in the forests.

People like Sarah Walker go B.M.X biking but mountain bikers like Andrew and Matt Gunn love mountain biking. Sometimes they are even track makers.

To make the track you chop down a couple of trees and then with a piece of heavy machinery they flatten the ground, but leave a few bumps and jumps in it. To ride a bike, push with your feet and steer with your hands.

Instead of mountain biking you can forest biking which is literally the same but when you forest bike you are surrounded by wildlife

Good Shepherd School’s Book Parade

On Friday the 6^th Good Shepherd had a character Parade in the hall. The school dressed up as a Character from a book character and came up on the stage and told the school of what they were!

Mountain Biking Fact File

I have been learning about the characteristics of an article and I used this skill to create my own fact file from a journal story I read.

People mountain bike by pushing the pedals and holding on they also need and good gear and most importantly have fun.

The people that are involved in mountain biking are the track makers (who need to check with the council to make sure it is safe and they are not protected reserves.) Lots of kids do Mountain biking because of all the fun tricks you can do.

People mountain bike to get fit, active and have some fun. It is also interesting when you see the tracks and forest with all the bumps and jumps.

We mountain bike in forests, farms and mountains. adults also mountain bike.

I have learning how to recognise the structure and characteristics of articles.  I used my skills I learnt to create a fact file about Mountain Biking.

The people included in mountain biking are the people who love to do it and the track makers.

The article I read was about mountain bikers and how they created a path for their sport.

People mountain bike because they want to get fit and they also do it for fun.

The way you mountain bike is to flatten trees and make a track that has jumps and bumps.

Chris Gurney visits our school

Chris is a famous Author who wrote the series of the Kiwi              Corkers. She based the series on stories such as Cinderella and turned the series into a Kiwi version so made it into Cindy and the lost jandal and she turned Jack and the Beanstalk into the Trev and the Kauri tree. It was really funny when some students acted out Cindy and the Lost Jandal. Chris told us about the process of making a book and that the publisher chooses the illustrator. We loved it that she came in and spent your time with us.

Family Friday Week 5

On Friday the 6^th of June Kate and Ted (our dog)

came in to school for their fam Friday and taught us about training Dogs. Kate told us that when Miss Suggate was letting us go into the bath she was also reinforcing us. It was so funny!

Family Friday Week 4

Today my mum came in to talk about Hong Kong. We lived there for 6 years. Mum told Room 9 all about the culture and all the things we have done there. We played a fun game where we had to pick up lollies with chop sticks. Mum played wax museum with us and she was really good! Thanks mum for coming in.

Showtime Review

Title - Space Jump
Type - Fictional Play
Characters - Professor Dribble, Doctor Propellor, Johnno and Claire

Plot - Space Jump is all about two children cloud watching and then one of them called Claire saw a spaceship.  So the spaceship swaps her body with another alien in the ship.  The alien comes out and pretends to be Claire.  She acts very weird and her friend Johnno asks if she is ok and he said "do you need to go to the sickbay?" and she said "No!".  She came to earth to learn about fiction books.  The professor and the doctor were trying to kind the alien.
