Room 9 Shake
Room 9 Shake from Good Shepherd School on Vimeo.
On Friday we had our second assembly for the year. It was based around the Oscars. Our class made this video to show as one of the nominations, it's a famous dance called the Harlem Shake and we made our own version. It was heaps of fun filming. We hope you like it!

Student Teacher
On Monday we
got a student teacher! Everyone was very excited and could not wait to meet
her. Her name is Miss Johnson; she has been working with groups in reading,
writing, and maths. She has also helped us with doing plays and little things
around the place. We have had her for two days now and she has been very nice.

We are role playing a bullying scenario with a positive outcome.
Kia Kaha
For the last two weeks Room 9 have been learning about Kia Kaha, which means to be brave and strong, and stand up for yourself. Children and young people should be encouraged to believe in themselves, their qualities and their abilities and to stand up for themselves so that they will not become victims of bullying. Today we role played a bullying scenario with a positive outcome. We hope you enjoy our videos.

First Holy Communion Celebration
At the end of First Holy Communion Mass we celebrated in the hall. There was lots of food and drinks. The people that received their First Holy Communion got to sit at special tables on stage and eat and celebrate together. At the end Father cut the delicious cake that Sharon made. It was such a wonderful day with lots of special memories. Congratulations First Holy Communion students of 2014.

First Holy Communion
On Sunday 7th September some Good Shepherd students celebrated their First Holy Communion. This means that they can receive the Eucharist, which represents the body and blood of Jesus. The whole school came and it was a glorious day. The girls wore pretty dresses and the boys were dressed smartly.

Sushi
Sushi is our
class pet. We all have turns looking after Sushi. He is a fish, we feed him
twice a day. Everyone was excited when Vanessa told us she wrote a letter to
Mrs Hahn and said we were allowed Sushi. But Mrs Suggate said if something
happens to him we have to clean it up. Now Anija is asking if we are allowed
another pet fish, the bad thing is we don’t know what gender Sushi is!!! Dun

We love
Sushi he is really cool and the lucky thing is that were the only class that
has a class pet YAY!!! Hopefully.

Life Education
On Wednesday RM9 went to see Ben at the life education
truck. He taught us about the Head
Hassler and the Mind Master. These are imaginary thoughts in our head. The Head
Hassler gives us bad thoughts and the Mind Master gives us good thoughts. Then
we started watching a video about a boy called Jake Clark. In this video Jake
gets bullied and his Head Hassler gives him really annoying thoughts like ‘this
will be happening for the rest of your life’. We learnt we should always listen
to our Mind Master when things get tough in life. At the end he gave us some work of drawing our
own Mind Master and Head Hassler. It was awesome!!!

Family Fridays Week 8 Term 1
Last Friday we had our very first "Family Fridays," where a parent comes in on a Friday and shares something special with us. Room 9 would love to thank Susan for coming in and reading a fantastic book to us called Oh, the Places You'll Go! By Doctor Seuss and preparing an awesome PowerPoint quiz for us to answer. Thanks for all of your hard work and effort. It was so much fun!

Oral Language Week
We just had a fantastic oral language week in writing where Room 9 started a new writing topic called persuasive writing. Mrs Suggate taught us lots of drama activities where we practiced our persuasive language skills. We also learnt how to memorize a persuasive piece of writing using a text map. A text map is a map of pictures that helps you remember words. By learning an excellent piece of persuasive writing, it will help us write brilliant advertisements.

Room 9's Secret Agent Goals
At the beginning of the year Room 9 dressed up as secret agents and made a secret agent profile name with details about themselves. This secret agent profile also included a goal they wanted to work on for the year. There were heaps of creative names and the students all chose goals that had something to do with a curriculum area they wanted to improve on. Keep working hard on your goals room 9! From Mrs Suggate.
