Today mum came and talked about our trip to Rarotonga. She gave us a delicious, creamy coconut milk to drink. She taught us how to wrap a sarong. It was fun teaching the children about the Rarotongan culture we learnt on our holiday.
Tika means justice, pono means doing what is right and aroha means love. We split into groups and came up with great
ideas. Some groups did people bullying one another. Other people did people
teasing each other. Then someone told to stop fighting and made it fair. It was
fun we learnt a lot about Tika Pono and Aroha.
Today my dad came in for Family Friday. He was talking about Holland. We learnt a lot, he taught us about dutch words, clogs (which are special shoes) and the Netherlands Football team He also gave us delicious dutch biscuits. Thanks papa!
This week we learnt
how to draw a face by visualising it into three thirds. The top third is your
forehead and eyes, the middle third is your nose and upper mouth and the bottom
third is your lips and chin. It was fun learning to draw our self-portrait. We
hope you like our pictures.
This Friday my dad came in and taught us about orienteering. He created a map of the school and made a course for our class. We got into teams of two and three. Then we ran around the course to find codes and clues. At the end we needed to work out the code which was.....Room 9 is cool! He showed us a clip about orienteering and asked us if we wanted to do orienteering again and Room 9 all said yes! Thanks for coming in dad, you're the best!
Jesus said, "With what can I compare God's Reign? The Reign of God is like the tiny piece of yeast that the baker woman mixes in with the three measures of flour. The little bit of yeast makes the flat dough slowly rise and grow into a lovely big, fat loaf of bread." Luke 13:20-21
We learnt about the Reign of God and made some delicious bread. Below are pictures of when we role played how we can show the Reign of God everyday.
On Friday
the 28th of February the Simpsons [reading group] made sandwiches for reading

In the group were Tonga , Alexandra , Erylle , Felicity and Christopher
. We all brought different ingredients Alexandra brought cucumber and tomato ,
Tonga brought butter and ham , Felicity brought the bread and Eyrlle brought
the chicken. It was a fun sandwich day.
It was so much fun! Mr McGillivray came in and talked about iron sand and some other sands
called
PC, RAW and
White sand but Mr McGillivray got the white sand out of the sand pit. It was fun learning about the iron in the
sand and using magnets. He then dressed some children up in a special uniform that protect the people that work in extreme temperatures to make the iron and steel. Thanks for coming in Dad.
On the 24th of
February Eve’s science granddad came to the school, and presented us some science. The last one was the most existing one, he had a pump and a
bottle of water and pushed on the pump and all the pressure pushes it up in the
sky and everyone screamed.
Today on our science day James Boffin showed us how to make elephant
tooth paste. Then James Boffin showed us how to make it. Then he gave us a tub, a little
wooden stick, then he showed us this slippery liquid and he told us to put it in our little tubs, then he told us
about this thing called borax and then we mixed it together and it became goo.
It almost stuck to the bottom. By Ashley
